Tech Tidy ( 56 secs read)

A rush for constant upgrades leaves us with more new gadgets and inevitably larger digital clutter. Each new device multiplies chats, emails, notifications, and the data dump.  The result?

A digital space similar to an overstuffed closet.

Digital chaos, in the form of unread emails, multiple open tasks, and downloads, all contribute to confusion. Every notification is like an alarm by itself.  The pesky promos or spam calls are another cauldron of interruptions.

All of these eat into our focus throughout the day.

Is there help at hand? Absolutely! Even a brief digital reboot can bring much relief.

Here’s what helped me:

  • Unsubscribe from one low-value newsletter daily
  • Archive/delete untouched files
  • Delete old mails and downloads that have served their purpose
  • Silence unnecessary notifications for set hours

Five minutes a day is enough to reclaim clarity — not just on your screens, but in your mind too.

Organising our devices pays off beyond that initial burst of relief. It means less time spent searching, fewer distractions amidst important work, and a lower baseline of stress.

Think of it like tidying up any space – your work desk, kitchen, or closet. Everything feels easier when we aren’t scuffling through clutter to find what we need.

If you’re curious where to begin, pick one device and set aside five minutes. Delete the unnecessary items, used OTPs and transaction notifications. Archive if you need something, and clear out everything redundant.

A quick round of digital decluttering can make your day feel noticeably lighter.

In our fast-paced, automated world, let’s make digital hygiene a lasting habit.

STRATEGIC RESET IS POWERFUL - 1 min read

There’s something distinctively satisfying about coming back from a weekend. Maybe it’s the silent reset of a Monday morning, knowing we’ve recharged.

Strategic rest is not a mere feel-good concept. It is a careful act that produces sustained performance. Think of any essential service. At some point, they shut down for maintenance or reduced hours that ensure longevity and efficiency.

The same principle applies to us.

Rest is not weakness, nor laziness. A conscious choice to renew our mental clarity and physical energy. It enables us to operate at our best.

One way to harness this is by scheduling intentional breaks. Treat them like indispensable appointments rather than disposable extras. Block out a “power break”. An uninterrupted hour where emails, notifications, and to-do lists go on hold. We can use that time to recharge, choosing the best option for each of us. Star gazing, nature walk, calming music, and a quiet reading session. Or just a shut-eye moment that lets our minds wander. These mini-recharges allow our brains to clear the mental clutter and return refreshed.

Once in a while, step away from the usual hustle, even if it feels awkward at first. Over time, these breaks will become a habit and support energy levels and creativity.

Do you want to pick a short window and commit to guilt-free downtime?

Comment below and let’s exchange interesting perspectives on our rest strategies.

The Movement Myth Women Must Break - 1 min read

The Lancet Global Health[1]
journal mentions that 57% women and 42% men in India are insufficiently physically active.  Even more concerning? Should this trend continue, over 60% of adults will be physically inactive.  But what really caught my attention was the 15% gender gap tilted unfavourably toward women.

Alarming?  But don’t we run around enough at home?”  Well, not quite.

Chores Don't Count Anymore

For generations, household work kept women physically active. There were no dishwashers, food processors, or spin mops. Our mothers and grandmothers moved. Lifting, squatting, and walking all day.  Today, things are different. Many of us have domestic help. Even without it, automation has taken over. A swipe of a duster or loading the machine isn’t real movement. We’re sitting more, walking less, and relying on tools to do the heavy lifting. In short, we are not clocking in enough movement. We don’t exert ourselves anymore. And this applies across the board, whether you're a homemaker or a working professional.

Not just the Gym but Intentional Effort

The best part is, we don’t need complex fitness routines - just solid intentions.  We may say, “Our ancestors never exercised!” True. But they didn’t need to; their daily lives were physically demanding. Ours are not.  Therefore, we can’t rely solely on chores and passive movements to maintain our health.

Here’s how I am trying to make a conscious shift

Building an elaborate regimen with my challenge was an uphill task. I realised small efforts like standing up once every hour or a five-minute walk weren't enough for the result I needed.  I tried walking, but my foot aches.[2] So, I scheduled an hour at the gym. Nothing extreme, just cycling and some stretches. No dramatic transformation. But I feel better.  That was enough to keep going.

Rewrite the Prediction

You don’t need to become a fitness influencer churning Insta reels or master complex routines. You just need to show up.

Find something small that works for you and stick with it.

So, ladies, what do you say?  Do we let statistics define us?  Or do we quietly, consistently improve ourselves?

The future’s waiting. Let's get moving.

What Scares You, Grows You !! (1 min read)

Comfort zones are cosy, but consider this - "When was the last time you did something that scared you?"

If you're drawing a blank, you're in good company! Yet potentially, you may have stopped growing.

Comfort zones trap us in a cosy bubble. It is a safe behavioural space where stress and risk are minimised, but it's also where dreams disappear forever.  There is no challenge, no learning, no growth, and we certainly don't discover our true potential. In essence, comfort becomes our biggest roadblock.

Research-backed studies encourage discomfort[1].  Intentional stretching beyond a safe space increases persistence and courage. It promotes overall development and helps rewire our brains. Discomfort creates fresh neural pathways by enhancing cognitive flexibility and creativity. It is not just character-building but brain-building as well!

However, being uncomfortable isn't about constant stress but a gradual expansion of boundaries to build resilience. In doing things that scare us, we prove to ourselves that we are capable of more.

Pause for a moment to consider - where have you become too comfortable, and how can you challenge yourself in this area?

The Good news is that we don't need radical moves.

Find something outside your comfort zone, do it in the next seven days and reflect briefly.

Small Steps, Big Changes

Here are some ways to tiptoe out of our hideouts:

1. Try that exotic dish you've always been curious about.

2. Strike up a conversation with a stranger.

3. Take a different route to work.

4. Hone a new skill.

5. Voice your opinion at the next meeting.

6. Give up one luxury.

Taking that first step is crucial for expanding consciousness and embracing the thrill of growth!

"Move out of your comfort zone. You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new." - Brian Tracy-

Women's Day 2025 - Looking Ahead (Read in 43 secs)

 Women's Day 2025 - Looking Ahead

This Women’s Day, I want to shift the focus!

While honouring the incredible women who've shaped our past, it’s time to consider empowering the women of tomorrow - our daughters.

Yet, shattering glass ceilings without strong collaborations may remain just another dream. It requires collective effort from families, communities, workplaces and institutions. To garner that collaboration, we must rise before we raise.

The invisible blocks that linger, the subtle biases and the systemic barriers are the spokes in their wheel.  The boundaries we allowed to be crossed, the words we didn’t speak, and the injustices we never stood up to must be replaced.   Yes, every one of them.

It’s time we create opportunities for our girls to dream big.

Empowering our girls starts with challenging stereotypes and breaking outdated norms. And it starts with us.  So, you chase your dreams, advocate for yourself, and demonstrate resilience in the face of adversity, proving nothing is ever out of reach.

This Women's Day, I pledge to contribute towards a world of equal opportunities for our daughters so their voices shape a brighter, more equitable future.

Empower a girl today, and you empower generations to come.

Desk Detox: The Power of a Clean Desk (1 min read)

Some workspaces resemble an explosion!

Notes everywhere, coffee mugs on double shifts as paperweights, half-eaten food, wrappers, torn envelopes, stationery and the list could go on -"sweet mayhem" is the motto.

You may think I am being judgemental. Far from it - actually, confusion scares me.  I'm an "everything in its place" kind of person which my family feel is borderline OCD.

Some people navigate chaos effortlessly – and there is proof that it generates creativity. But, research also mentions its downside - cluttered spaces and untidiness amongst other things, may cause anxiety, depression and even unproductivity.

This made me think about our workspaces and office desks and how they sometimes seem to be working against us.

Making small adjustments is simple even if one is not naturally tidy. They can be head turners, catalysts of productivity and so worth the effort.

Sharing some of the methods that I developed over three decades :

1.       The Quick Desk Clear-Out

Move everything off your desk except what you need right now (or at least from your immediate space). It's that simple. Less clutter means fewer distractions, and it’s surprising how your concentration improves.

2.    All in Place

Try keeping back things in their designated place, as soon as you have finished using them.  You will never waste time searching or get frustrated during emergencies.

3.    Ditch the sticky notes

As far as reminders and to-do lists go, that’s probably not the best route to take. Not only could they fall off and end up in the trash can, but pinning them all over look tacky and disorderly.  Use them sparingly.

4.    Clean up before you go

True, we have our faithful Office helps but one great habit is to clear your workspace before you go.  Let them clean after you without you losing sleep of what got swept away.

5.      Create a schedule to re-evaluate

Schedule time in your day to remove any meaningless reminders, memos or receipts. When you’re free from clutter, you’re free to create something new.

Our workspaces are vital to our performance - and a cluttered space may trickle down to our tasks.  Organising is an effective tool in sharpening focus and increasing productivity.

S0, take a break and tidy your desk; it will free your mind, keep you calm and also improve performance!

Stalled? not anymore... ( 1 min read)

Stalled?
                  ...not anymore

I used to have a graveyard of half-finished side projects—great ideas that never made it past the halfway mark!

During the pandemic, I decided to complete those unfinished projects. While many saw the end of the tunnel, new ones were added - and I found myself back to square one.

Starting something is exciting. But halfway into the project, lethargy and exhaustion push the real magic aside.

There are no techniques, shortcuts or art of finishing. I figured it was never about perfection. It is about building the habit of following through to fruition.

Through my many finished and unfinished projects, here is what I discovered.

Tie it to a clear benefit

What’s the payoff for finishing this project? Whether it’s personal growth, financial gain, or crossing it off your list. Clarity on the “why” will keep you motivated.

Set phased deadlines

Break your project into smaller milestones with specific deadlines. Tackling one piece at a time makes big goals feel less overwhelming and keeps the momentum going.

Embrace the messy middle

Every project has that frustrating middle phase where motivation dips. That’s normal! Pivot if needed, but stick with it. A flat tyre can be repaired, so don’t end the journey.  Progress, even if imperfect, is better than giving up.

Ready for some Weekend Wonder?

Choose one stalled project. Define the next three steps and schedule them in your calendar—no matter how small.

Finishing isn’t just about the result—it’s about revealing your resilience to push through.

And the satisfaction of crossing that finishing line?

Always worth the effort.
